Chippewa vibram soles???

i just bought a pair of chippewa engineer boots a few weeks ago (my first 'real boots') and wanted to know if that stiching on the bottom of the sole is the only thing holding the sole on to the boot? it seems like it would ware out pretty quick or is there something im missing
