Banded snake eel (harlequin eel) care?

My local fish store got a shipment of a dozen banded snake eels. They are juveniles going for $45. I trust the store but what care do these eels need? I have a 100 gallon that is pretty empty now. Any tips or experiences with them? And are they really worth $45? I don't want to buy an eel for such a high price and then it dies, which I am wondering are they hardy or fragile? The owner claims that the one he was in the display tank is 10 years old, how long do they live? [I'm not asking for opinions or statistics, I'm looking for people who have owned or own a banded snake eel, a.k.a the harlequin eel]
